Napoli reject two Premier League offers for Scott McTominay as future takes new twist

Napoli have rejected the offers of two Premier League clubs and a Saudi Pro League side for 2025 Serie A MVP Scott McTominay.

The Scot joined Napoli from Manchester United in the summer of 2024, after spending 22 years with the Red Devils at youth and first-team level.

The 29-year-old played an integral role in Napoli’s Serie A title victory in the 2024/25 campaign, winning the Italian top-flight’s MVP Award with 16 goal involvements in 34 games.

That single season doubled the Scotland international’s previous best haul, having scored seven goals and provided an assist in 32 league games for Manchester United in 2023/24.

McTominay has enjoyed another fine Serie A campaign individually, recording 13 G/A in 32 appearances despite Napoli falling from Italian champions to second place.

Exiting manager Antonio Conte could finish the season as far as 14 points behind 2025/26 victors Inter Milan, if they fail to win their final league match against Udinese tomorrow afternoon.

Despite the addition of another retiring Manchester legend in Kevin De Bruyne to the Napoli side, McTominay has remained the midfield stand-out, with the Belgian scoring just two non-penalty goals in the Serie A after exiting the Etihad last season.

Despite persistent interest coming from England and Saudi Arabia, Napoli have reportedly deemed McTominay as “untouchable” ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to Tuttosport, the Italian side are rapidly progressing in their attempts to convince the 29-year-old to sign a contract extension at Napoli.

McTominay’s next contract will likely last until 2030, with an option to extend until 2031 as the previous Serie A champions look to maintain a vital pillar in their squad.

The Scotland international’s extension will also come with a considerable raise in pay, having earned the right to larger sums of money after two consistent years in Italy.

The 29-year-old previously told Corriere dello Sport that his future remains in Napoli, despite rumours of a Premier League homecoming seizing headlines.

"My agent has not communicated with anyone regarding my future," McTominay said. "He only speaks with me and with the club. He hasn't said anything to the newspapers. I am extremely happy here.

“As far as I am concerned, I am a Napoli player, [that's] all I think about. I could see myself in Napoli for a long time,” the 29-year-old continued.

Napoli's global business development officer Leonardo Giammarioli expressed concerning regarding the ex-Manchester United man's future in Italy back in February, amid rumours of him making an Old Trafford homecoming.

Speaking with talkSPORT, he confessed that he was worried Napoli and McTominay could receive an offer that proved too lucrative for all involved parties to turn down, before describing his affinity for the Scotland international.

On the prospect of a Manchester United return or an offer of similar appeal, he said: "Yeah, of course I’m worried. But ultimately, especially Scott, who’s a very nice guy, we’re happy if he gets to the next level in a couple of years – maybe not now, maybe not next year, but he deserves it.

“Look at Stuttgart, they wanted to keep Nick Woltemade, but when such an offer comes in, there’s not much you can do, when the player wants to go and money is important," he continued.

For now, it appears that the Italian side will keep ahold of a player and asset they deem invaluable in aiding the club to achieve further glory in the coming years.

The Scot returns to action tomorrow afternoon against Udinese, hoping to secure a second-placed Serie A finish for his side.
